Image-guided Localization Techniques for Nonpalpable Breast Lesions: An Opportunity for Multidisciplinary Patient-centered Care

چکیده

Abstract Selection of a localization method for nonpalpable breast lesions offers an opportunity institutions to seek multidisciplinary input promote value-based, patient-centered care. The diverse range and axillary pathologies identified through increased utilization screening mammography often necessitates image-guided preoperative accurate lesion identification excision. Preoperative techniques have evolved include both wire nonwire methods, the latter which radioactive seeds, radar reflectors, magnetic radiofrequency tag localizers. There are no statistically significant differences in surgical outcomes when comparing devices. Factors consider during selection adoption systems physician preference ease use, workflow efficiency, patient satisfaction.

Prebiopsy localization of nonpalpable breast lesions.

Radiologically guided localization procedures are indicated pre-operatively when breast lesions are nonpalpable. The results of 42 percutaneous hookwire localizations over a period of 3 years are described. Of the total, 7 (17%) were found to be malignant. Biopsy was indicated by mammographically detected mass in 48%, by microcalcifications in 40% and by microcalcifications with an associated m...

Purpose. For accurate resection of nonpalpable malignant breast lesions with a tumor-free resection rim, an exact and stable wire localization is essential. We tested the resistance towards traction force of different localization devices used in our clinic for breast lesions in two types of tissue. Materials and Methods. Eight different commercially available hook-wire devices were examined fo...

Radio-guided occult lesion localization for nonpalpable suspicious breast lesions: A novel technique

Background: Breast screening programs and increased self-awareness has led to increased identification of early breast cancers. Up to 25% of mammographicaly identified lesions are nonpalpable, which require a precise technique to localize and excise completely. Radio-guided occult lesion localization (ROLL) is a technique, which uses hand held gamma probe to accurately localize and completely e...

assessment of radio-guided occult lesion localization associated with sonography in nonpalpable breast lesions

conclusions radio-guided localization of non-palpable breast lesions is an acceptable method because of technical facilitation, accurate localization and complete excision with limited complications. so it can be recommended as an alternative method for wire-guided localization. results pathologic results were benign in 90.5% and malignant in 9.5% of patients. post-operative margin of lesion wa...
